A friend came over for dinner and we somehow got onto the topic of how everything came into being. He comes from a point of view that science has the answer for everything. My perspective on science is that it is a process that attempts to explain our world.
Since people don't change their paradigms through arguments, a win/lose scenario, I asked him just one question: "Can anything cause itself to be?" I also told him I would rather he didn't answer me but to answer it for himself.
Once we answer that question, we quickly realize that only something else can cause the existence of any other thing. And once we've wrapped our minds around that particular idea we then have to come to terms with what the First Cause is.
That becomes a problem for some and a segue for others. Which is it for you?
